A bakery, are you nuts?" |

That's what our family said when we told them we wanted to take some time
during our vacation to look at a business that was for sale.
As life-long night owls, owning a bakery would be a change for us. Chris
worked as a Credit Manager for a meat and deli wholesaler, Kim was a
full-time mom.
Fortunately for us, Everett chose to stay on as the head baker. This worked
out well, since neither Chris or Kim had any experience at working with 50+
year old Hobart 40 quart mixers, scaling flour out in 25 lb increments or
dealing with an oven the size of a small bedroom. With no formal training
and over 20 years experience, Everett has raised baking to an art. He
continues to search out new recipes, find ways to improve what we have, and
add to his vast knowledge of the history of baking.
The one thing that is most rewarding is becoming a part of people's holidays
and vacations. Bandon is a tourist town, and every summer we have favorite
customers return to our town and catch us up on their past year. We've
become incorporated into the local's holiday celebrations. Christmas isn't
complete without special goodies from the bakery.
We don't take this lightly. It spurs us on to do our best work. And it
shows. We've received several awards on the local and state levels. We're
not satisfied to rest on our laurels. Just like our bread, we're always
rising to new heights! |
